On Thursday, a hearing was held in the Justice Court of Dayton Township regarding a strangulation case of a young woman which may have resulted in a coma following the attack.
The suspected assailant, Kyle P. Calhoun, aged 34, allegedly strangled the victim at his home with whom he was in a dating relationship, according to the criminal complaint filed against him.
“On or about March 1, 2022, in Dayton Township, Lyon County, State of Nevada, (Calhoun) did willfully and unlawfully use force or violence upon someone with whom he was or is in a dating relationship resulting in substantial bodily harm, to wit: (Calhoun) did choke, strike, squeeze or otherwise use force against (victim) (…) resulting in broken ribs and/or damage and/or obstruction to her airway.”
The complaint continues that Calhoun choked the victim in a manner that creates a risk of death or substantial bodily harm by impeding the normal breathing or circulation of the blood by applying pressure to the throat.
The complaint was filed on March 2, asking for a summons or warrant to be issued against Calhoun in response to the attack.
Calhoun appeared for the first time in regards to that case Thursday afternoon. At that then, the case was bound to the 3rd Judicial Court for further proceedings.
The arraignment will take place August 1 at 9 a.m.
A phone call to Carson Now stated that the strangulation resulted in a coma for the victim; however, the DA stated they could not comment on any evidence relating to the case at this time.
