In mission-critical military applications or other rugged, high-performance environments, braking systems must provide superior functionality and excellent reliability. Ideal for these kinds of projects, the EMA multiple disc electric brake ensures smooth and safe operation, delivering three to six times more torque than a single disc electric brake of the same size.
The EMA features a “through-the-disc” magnetic flux path, enabling it to transfer a large amount of torque, automatically compensate for wear and perform consistently throughout the brake’s lifespan. For greater wear resistance, better heat dissipation, and easier maintenance, these multiple disc brakes can operate dry or in oil.
As with all our electric motor brake units, the EMA takes advantage of highly efficient magnetic flux circuits that allow the brakes to self-adjust during operation. And, if the friction discs require replacement, the procedure is simple and requires no special tools.
Robust Features Available Dynamic torque ranges from 8 to 1,200 foot pounds. Static torque ranges from 15 to 2,400 foot pounds. Bore ranges from ½ to 3 ½-in. Wattages ranging from 40 to 100 watts. Positive engagement or disengagement at all speeds. Exclusive floating disc pacs for the lowest drag and consistent releasing.
Excelling in Critical Applications The superior reliability and high torque output of EMA multiple disc electric brakes make them ideal for use in military, medical, machine tool, and food packaging applications — and, they combine all these features within a small envelope. Some high-performance and hazardous applications include winch mechanisms aboard rescue helicopters, cooling pump drives, bomb hoists, and aircraft deicing equipment.
Easily Modifiable Keep in mind that our team of experienced engineers can modify any of our standard parts or design entirely new electric motor brakes. We can guarantee the exact solution you need for your unique challenges.
