Wolf Tooth Components has added two more functions to the ever-growing capabilities of their 8-Bit Magnetic Stacking Multi-Tool. The new module, if you will, comes in the form of a Tire Lever and Disc Brake Tool with a rotor truing component.

The new WTC Tire Lever and Disc Brake Tool is available to buy as a standalone tool, or it can be bought as part of the new 8-Bit Kit Two, in a stack of tools covering 22 functions.

The new component adds two useful tools for hydraulic disc brake fettling; the machined end is home to an 8mm flare wrench that can be used to open and close the compression nut on hydraulic brakes, and there is a slot for truing rotors up to 2.3mm thick, too.

The latter can be super useful for some mid-ride tuning, especially on a social ride when you realize it’s your bike that is making the anti-social dinging noise.

The WTC 8-Bit Tire Lever and Disc Brake Tool is 146mm in length and weighs a claimed 29.5g.

The plastic tire lever end is nothing new, with the middle tool of the original 8-Bit system comprising a tire lever with a machined end designed to remove dents from aluminium rims, a module that is still available, retailing at £20.  It has a tapered, angled tip to fit under tight tires with rounded edges that should prevent damage to rims and rim tape.

The new Wolf Tooth Components 8-Bit Tire Lever and Disc Brake Tool can be purchased alone for £20, or as part of the new £140 8-Bit Kit Two.

I’ve never needed to check my brake compression nuts ON a ride….

and Shimano nuts are 7mm…..

The flare wrench is more of a shop tool and since most people don’t have one, this is a great way to get one combined with a couple other really useful functions. You may not need it on the trail but having it does not add any weight or volume to the other tools you do need on the trail.

The Shimano brake hose fittings we measured are all 8 mm. A number of other brake brands also use 8 mm fittings. Rest assured, this tool works great for the intended purpose.

Shop-tool is a torque wrench with the propper Crowfoot. How would you measure the applied torque with this tire flipper?

Any word if this will mesh with the original three tools from the 8 Bit Kit. I bought one as soon as it came out last year, and am interested in adding the disc rotor tool, but if you can’t really add it to the other three I’ll probably look for something else.

Yes, you can stack all 4 of them together — works great!

Really love the level of detail that Wolftooth achieved with their finished products. They look nice but not flashy. Not cheap, but not expensive for what you get. It’s hard to appease everyone, but all in all Wolftooth is making products people who ride use and they do it well.
